Size & Recommended Board Thickness

Each corner measures approximately 14mm across the decorative face.

These corners are particularly well suited to the types of boards commonly used for handmade hardcover books. We recommend using them with approximately 1.5mm–2.5mm greyboard/chipboard, with 2mm board being an excellent general choice for bookbinding.

Remember that the finished thickness of the corner will also include your covering material, such as book cloth, paper, faux leather or fabric. Very thick board combined with bulky covering materials may make the corner more difficult to fit.

How to Attach Metal Book Corners

Complete and cover your book boards first. Once the cover is finished, slide a metal corner over each corner of the book cover.

Carefully crimp the metal tabs around the board to secure the corner in place. Smooth-jaw or protected pliers are useful for applying gentle, even pressure without scratching or marking the metal.

For best results, place a small piece of cloth, felt or folded paper between the pliers and the metal corner while crimping.

Avoid applying excessive pressure, as the corner only needs to be tight enough to grip the finished board securely.
